EMBI for the Medical Director

Isn’t it enough that you already face one of the most complex management challenges that exists?  How much easier would it be to manage your Emergency Department if you had a website with all your KPI (Key Performance Indicator) so you could see how your last month's performance compares to the targetrs you set, as well as monitor how you are trending against your historical performance.  Want to compare your ED's performance against peer and national benchmarks?  It's included - EMBI has partnered with Emergency Excellence, an national ED metric and benchmarking company.

Want to see more detail for one of your KPI's?  Click on "drill" button for any KPI and see more root cause details.  The next click takes you to what we call our "KPI Drill Path Analytic."

For example, you probably know what your "Returns in 72 Hours" percentage is and how that compares to what it was last month; and maybe for the past year; and maybe even your peer and regional benchmarks.  EMBI can take you much deeper.  Beyond all that information appearing on one line along with a dozen of you other KPIs that are on your Dashboard, one click on drill button generates an analytic that gathers all the metric relevant data you need to research an issue or formulate a corrective action.  Print it, email it, download it to Excel or access it on EMBI whenever you want.

There are also several significant revenue recovery opportunties.  Comparing what was documented versus what was billed can identify things like - level 5 patients admitted, but did not have a critical care code billed.  Or, by checking billing data for fracture ICD codes, we can check to see that a fracture care code was also billed.  For both of these metrics, our KPI Drill Path Analytic generates a list of patients for you to review or forward to your billing department.  Between these two revenue recovery opportunties and several others, you may find out that you are leaving a lot of cash on the table.  This is not coding optinization, it is making sure you bill for what you have already done.

Another KPI we know you know your numbers for are your left without being see (LWOBS) percentage.  But, do you know the demographics and time of day of your LWOBS?  What would you do if you had the data to prove that your LWOBS volumes were highest on weekdays between 3p and 7p?  Or that the demographic of your LWOBS was 40% adult women.  Or that 30% of your LWOBS were level 3s.

We know you know your LWOBS percentage and patient satisfactions scores.  But, with EMBI, you will know why they are what they are.  EMBI provides the data you need to surgically manage the issues that are negatively impacting your Emergency Department’s performance.
